Small Business Website Checklist: What to Publish Before You Advertise
A website checklist for small businesses: pages, speed, trust, and an enquiry path to finish before you spend on ads.
Web Design
A small business website should make the next step obvious: call, book, or send an enquiry. Ads and social posts waste money when they land on a page that does not explain the offer, the area you serve, or how to get in touch.
Use this checklist before you increase spend. It is the same foundation we use in web design projects for owner-led firms.
Pages a small business actually needs
Start with a homepage, one page per core service, a proof page, and a contact path. Each service page should name who it is for, what is included, and the area you cover. Link those pages together so a visitor can move from a problem to a quote without hunting through the menu.
Google’s SEO Starter Guide is a useful reminder that clear pages help both people and search. Pair the structure with SEO so the pages can be found, not only admired.
Trust and speed
Show real work, a short note on how you work, and a way to reach a person. Compress images and keep the page stable on a phone. Core Web Vitals are the practical speed checks. Slow pages lose the same local customers your ads are trying to reach.
Do this before paid traffic
Publish the checklist pages, then point campaigns at them. Read website design practices that convert and compare pricing if you want the build handled for you. When the site is ready, request a quotation.
